What’s with all that colored hair (Mary Ann Ornellas of Malia Kai — it’s upstairs of the former City Liquor building — said the colored eyes and vampire teeth for Halloween are good sellers!) by the scorer’s table at the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation air riflery matches at Clem Gomes Gym on Saturday?

One of the pleasant surprises at the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation girls volleyball matches at Clem Gomes Gym (mahalo Coach Jon Kobayashi and the Menehune Athletic Department for the hospitality) was the appearance of Hoku’s food truck, which, according to Joyce Evens, stays for the entire game … makes a great stop for post-match dinner, especially if the match goes five sets.

What is a MOS (Art Umezu said it stands for “Mountains, Ocean, and Sea” — how come it’s not “sun” since “sea” is closely related to “ocean?”) Burger, Mayor Derek S.K. Happy Labor Day? Not for Kaua‘i Coffee’s Faith Soto, who, Darla Domingo said “retired” on Thursday (Darla had her twin grandchildren running after “the very fast chicken” on Saturday, during The Kaua‘i Marathon Keiki Race). But Faith was helping at the Kaua‘i Coffee tent during the Wilcox Health Sports and Fitness Expo at the Grand Hyatt Resort & Spa in Po‘ipu on Friday and Saturday, and Darla said she came back to help during The Kaua‘i Marathon on Sunday.
