Soei Oshiro
Soei Oshiro born April 22, 1933, in Lihue departed peacefully at his home in Hanamaulu on Aug. 10, 2016, at the age of 83. He was a retired truck driver for the Lihue Plantation.
He was preceded in death by parents, Makaro & Kama Oshiro; brother, Isami Oshiro and sisters, Chiyoko Tokuda and Kathleen Glauner; great granddaughter Kayla Itamura.
He is survived by his daughters Barbara (Glenn) Itamura and Cindy (Michael) Mindoro; sons, Davis (Denise) Oshiro and Roy (Maxine) Oshiro; sisters, Fumiye Meadors and Marian Ikehara and brother, Gene (Yuriko) Oshiro; 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia. Services will be held at 10 to 10:30 a.m. Casual attire suggested.

Leonora Guzman Amaral Schies
Leonora Guzman Amaral Schies of Lihue passed away at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital on Aug. 29, 2016, at the age of 101. She was born in Koloa, Hawaii on May 4, 1915, and retired from Kauai Inn as a Housekeeper.
Preceded in death by her husbands, John E. Amaral and Cleo R. Schies; son, Gilbert Amaral; daughter, Dorothy A. Carvalho; grandsons, Charles “Chucky” Amaral and Gilbert “Butchie” Amaral; granddaughter, Adele T. Carvalho.
Leonora is survived by two sons, Charles (Dahlia) Amaral, Robert (Jonell) Amaral; daughter, Eleanor (Bill) Kennedy; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 8 great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Florentina Cadelina Acob
Florentina Cadelina Acob 95 years old, of Omao, Kauai passed away on Aug. 17, 2016, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
Born on May 21, 1921 in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a homemaker.
Preceded in death by her parents Monico & Juana Cadelina, husband Felipe Acob, Sr., 2 sons Marcelino & Francisco Acob, and 2 daughters Florenda Domingo & Mariefe Acosta. Survived by her Sister: Rufina Eder, 4) Sons: Roberto Acob, Dominador (Marilyn) Acob, Felipe (Elsie) Acob, Jr., Ramon Acob, 6) Daughters: Cleotilde Vea, Anita (Benjamin) Corpuz, Fe Esposo Arecia (Peter) Lapuebla, Norma Acob & Cindy (Kenji) Marugame 35) Grandchildren, 54) great grandchildren & 11) great-great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday Sept. 16, 2016, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 to 9 pm.
Again on Saturday Sept. 17, 2016, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihue cemetery.
Marian Pavao Silva
Marian Pavao Silva, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, born on June 5, 1929, in Ele’ele, passed away at the age of 87 on Aug. 31, 2016, at Kauai Care Center.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ganansa Silva Sr.; grand-daughter, Ariel N. Clagett; parents, Joseph F. and Mary Pavao; brothers, Joseph “Sonny” Pavao and Bernard Pavao; and sisters, Barbara P. Koerte and Susan P. Kali.
Marian is survived by her four children, Yvonne (Wilbert) Pereira of Lihue, Richard “Dickie” (Franny) Silva Jr. of Kalaheo, Mary Ellen Silva of Kalaheo, and David (Jamie) Silva of Kapa’a; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:15 a.m. with Mass to begin at 10:30 a.m.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcomed.

Tamotsu Hiraoka
Tamotsu Hiraoka was born on March 20, 1922 and passed away on August 29, 2016. He was an army veteran with the Military Intelligence Services and the Branch Manager for Kauai Commercial.
He is survived by his wife, Kimie Hiraoka; brother, Mitsuyoshi (Dorothy) Hiraoka; sister, Koharu Kawamura; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at a later date and the family requests no koden.
