That game, one of three that marked the opening of the PONY Baseball season, saw Nick Sloggett of the Lihu‘e 2 hit the redshirts’ only hit of the game.
According to coach Bryan Aiwohi of Kapa‘a, Kekoa Alfiler scored the winning run in its 11-10 edge over Kekaha in the second game of the double-header played at the New Town Ball Park in Kapa‘a.
Dondi Viquelia, one of the leaders for the Kaua‘i PONY league, said the final game, a match between Lihu‘e 1 and Waimea was won by Lihu‘e 1, 12-2.
Games continue Thursday when the Cubs travel to Kalawai Park to meet the Kalawai team which will play their first season game.
Waimea travels to Kekaha, both teams seeking its first season win, and in the final contest, Lihu‘e 1 plays Lihu‘e 2 at Vidinha Stadium.
All games start at 4:15 p.m.
Kekaha field is the site of Sunday’s double-header when Kapa‘a plays Hanapepe at 10 a.m. followed by Lihu‘e 2 going up against Kekaha starting at 12:45 p.m.
Lihu‘e 1 will host Kalawai in a single game at Vidinha Stadium starting at 10 a.m.
