Let’s start off this week stating that Dickie Chang picked Waimea High School to win over Kaua‘i High School last week. It was noted that FM 97’s David Bice picked them to win.
So, out of the panel, it was Chang who finished 11-2 for the week, which makes him the winner for week two. Chang’s only misses were the Colorado and Philadelphia games.
Here’s how the rest of us did.
Ron Wiley and I went 7-6. I don’t know the reasoning behind his picks, but I will tell you that I picked San Diego over New England last week because of the whole “Spy Gate” ordeal. And who would’ve thought that Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles would have another bad game? Who would’ve thought that the Washington Redskins would have a 2-0 start?
Bice finished 8-5.
Leroy Newman of Princeville was the weekly winner in a tie break. He won $50 from us for winning.
Mark Pereira of Lihu‘e won the chance to be this week’s guest panelist. He won a $25 gift certificate from the Polynesia Cafe in Kapa‘a.
Instead of us taking a picture of him with a football, Pereira submitted a picture of himself when he used to play high school ball. How neat is that?
There are two ways for readers to win in this “Football Frenzy.” A winner who accurately beats the panel wins in the same fashion that Newman did. A reader also wins by being selected as a panelist.
The fun thing about being selected as a finalist is that if you’re selected as a panelist, you still have a chance to beat the panelists. It’s as simple as that. Just fill out a ballot and turn it by the designated time for a chance to win.
The ballots will be published every Thursday and a guest panelist is chosen by the following Monday.
Good luck and we’ll see how the panelists do this week.
