LA‘IE, O‘ahu — Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i opened its Pacific West Conference play by sweeping Notre Dame de Namur in both the men’s and women’s games Wednesday.
The BYUH men took a 71-62 win over the Argonauts after leading through most of the night following Notre Dame de Namur’s opening bucket.
Kayla Burningham’s 23 points and Latoya Wily’s double-double led the BYUH ladies through a double-digit lead through the second half en route to an 86-69 win.
Burningham scored on 8-of-14 shooting including 5-of-7 from beyond the three-point arc. She added seven rebounds, two assists, a pair of blocks and three steals to her night’s work.
Wiley nailed a game-high 14 rebounds while scoring 17 points and dishing out a game-high four assists in the win.
Freshman Lucas Alves led the balanced BYUH attack for the men’s team with 14 points and snatched a team-high six boards. Eric Boyce hit a pair from three-point range and was 5-of-7 from the field for his dozen points.
Chris Clock and Eric Bossom led the way for the Argonaut men with 18 and 12 points, respectively.
Grace Hartman paced the Lady Argonauts with a dozen points and seven rebounds. Ashley Wilson, Tamar Savazian and Christy Wiens each scored 11 points for Notre Dame de Namur.
