LIHUE — The spring road improvement season is in full swing with projects scheduled in heavily traveled areas, the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation said in an update on Friday.
The following is a list of lane closures scheduled for the workweek ending May 10. All work is weather permitting.
‘Ele‘ele
A right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) is possible in the westbound direction for sewer collection system rehab, between mile post 3.06 and 3.87, in the vicinity of Kaumuali‘i Highway, on Wednesday, May 8, through Friday, May 10, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Hanapepe
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for shoulder grading, between Hanapepe Road and Kaumakani Road, on Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for guardrail repairs, between mile post 18 and 21, on Tuesday, May 7, through Friday, May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kalaheo
A single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for paving work, between mile post 10.73 and 11.06, in the vicinity of Kuli Road and Lauoho Road, on Tuesday, May 7, through Thursday, May 9, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic be alternated through the open lane. Expect delays.
A right lane closure on Halewili Road (Route 540) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, between mile post 0 and 3.84, in the vicinity of Kaumuali‘i Highway, on Monday, May 6, through Friday, May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kalihiwai
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for highway reconstruction, between Kahiliholo Road and Ka Haku Road, through Friday, May 10, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Kapa‘a
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for ashphalt reconstruction and resurfacing, between Akia Road and Mailihuna Road, on Sunday, May 5 through Friday, May 10, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic will be allowed through the work area alternating in the open lane. Anticipate delays.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in the southbound direction for sewer manhole repairs, in the vicinity of Kukui Street and Huluili Street, on Wednesday, May 8, through Thursday, May 9, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Southbound traffic will be shifted to the left. Anticipate delays.
Koke‘e
A right lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) is possible in either direction for guardrail repair, between mile post 3 and 4, on Monday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Oma‘o
A right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) is possible in either direction for tree trimming, between Koloa Road and Hokua Road, on Monday, May 6, through Friday, May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Lihue
A right lane closure on Nawiliwili Road (Route 51) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, between Mokoi Street and Wa‘apa Road, on Monday, May 6, through Friday, May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for striping and sign installation, between Kuene Street and Kapule Highway, on Monday, May 6, through Friday, May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for paving joint sealing, between Kuene Street and Kapule Highway, on Thursday, May 9, through Friday, May 10, from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Moloa‘a
A right lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible in either direction for grass cutting, between mile post 17 and 20 in the vicinity of Koolau Road, on Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Princeville
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) is possible in either direction for debris removal and hauling of slope material, between Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, from Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for debris removal and hauling of slope material. Traffic will be alternated through the open lane.
Wailua
A single lane closure is possible on Kuamo‘o Road (Route 580) until further notice for slope stabilization and waterline installation, in the vicinity of the Opaekaa Falls lookout, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until further notice. Two-way traffic is controlled by flaggers or temporary traffic signals.
A right lane closure on Kapa‘a Bypass Road (Route 5600) is possible in either direction for grass cutting and shoulder grading, between mile post 1 to 1.25, on Monday, May 6, through Friday, May 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) is possible on the Wailua Mauka Bridge for bridge repair work, in the southbound direction, on Tuesday, May 7, through Thursday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. One lane will remain open southbound on the Mauka Bridge. Please proceed with caution.
