William “Bill” Ryan Downie of Hilo, Hawaii died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Tripler Army Medical Center at the age of 58.
Born Oct. 5, 1944, in Waimea, Kaua’i, he was a support specialist for the FAA Honolulu Control Facility, a former acting air traffic manager for the FAA Hilo Tower and also a board member for Hawaii Federal and State (HFS) Federal Credit Union.
He is survived by his wife: Beverly Downie of Hilo, HI; son: Shaun Downie of Arizona; two brothers: John (Dianne) Downie of Pearl City, O’ahu; and Nathan Downie of Wahiawa, O’ahu; mother-in-law: Hanae Nishimoto of Hilo, HI; two brothers-in-law: Ken (Muriel) Nishimoto of Hilo, HI and Myles (Norma) Nishimoto of Hilo; sister-in-law: Arlene (Rodney) Shimoko of Kaneohe, O’ahu, HI; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo.
A memorial service will be said at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. The family requests that casual attire be worn to the service.
