The Kauai North Shore Lions Club is accepting applications for its annual scholarship program.
During each of the last 30 years the North Shore Lions Club has awarded scholarships to students from Kauai’s North Shore to support and encourage continuing education for the youth of Kauai.
Eligible students must attend full time an institution of higher learning and also have a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Applicants must live on the North Shore between Moloaa and Haena. Applications can be obtained at the high school counselors’ office at Kapaa High, online at www.kauainorthshorelions.org, or at the Kauai Community College financial aid office.
Applications must be postmarked by March 31. This program is made possible through the generosity and support of the community in fundraising efforts. Major fundraisers include an annual pancake breakfast, golf tournament and other community projects.
Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, academic performance, leadership, community involvement and volunteerism.
Last year the North Shore Lions Club awarded more than $19,000 to help students with college expenses.
