Hajime Kuribayashi
Hajime Kuribayashi of Koloa died Nov. 3, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 88. Born on May 15, 1921, in Wahiawa, Kaua‘i, he was a proprietor of Kukui‘ula Store.
He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Grace Kuribayashi.
He is survived by his wife Jane Kuribayashi; sons Paul (Terry) Kuribayashi of Koloa and Lloyd (Deborah) Kuribayashi of Honolulu; daughter Carol (Craig) Iwase of Waipahu; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother Robert Kuribayashi of Honolulu; sisters Ellyn (James) Kingsmill of Pennsylvania and Alice (Harry) Tani of California; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date and the family requests no koden be sent.

Gerald ‘Jerry’ Ibsen
Gerald “Jerry” Ibsen of Wailua Homesteads died Sept. 13, 2009, at Providence Medical Center in Everett, Wash., at age 72. Born on March 11, 1937, in Washington, he was a semi-retired electrical contractor and owner of A&I, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his father Christian W. Ibsen.
He is survived by his mother Jennie Ibsen of Everett, Wash.; wife Louise Ibsen of Wailua Homesteads; sons Ken (Anna) Ibsen of San Lorenzo, Calif., Dean Ibsen of Washington and David (Rosel) Ibsen of Wailua Homesteads; stepchildren Barbara (John) Montemayor of Kapa‘a and James (Jannai) Harper of Makaweli; brother Lee (Mary) Ibsen of Sarasota, Fla.; sister Barbara Morgan of Stanwood, Wash.; five grandsons and one great-grandson.
A celebration of his life was held in Stanwood, Wash., on Sept. 19.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center located at 3125 Kapule Hwy. in Lihu‘e. Visitation from 3 to 4 p.m., service at 4 p.m.
Isidoro Abuan
Isidoro Lorenzana Abuan of ‘Ele‘ele died Nov. 1, 2009, at at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 87. Born on Dec. 3, 1921, in Urdaneta, Pangasinan, Philippines, he retired from Olokele Sugar Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pedro and Teodora Abuan; brothers Sylvestre and Juan and sister Esperanza.
He is survived by his wife Tina; sons Royland (Rodelia) Abuan of Wailuku, Maui and Clifton Abuan of ‘Ele‘ele; daughters Josephine Abuan of Beaverton, Ore. and Drena Abuan (Dean Ando) of Washington; three grandchildren Brandee, Breeann and Blakelee; numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing from 6 to 9 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 13, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in ‘Ele‘ele. Viewing again from 9 to 11 a.m., service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in ‘Ele‘ele. Burial at Hanapepe Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.

Flora Lee
Flora Fung Kyau Lee of Honolulu died Oct. 22, 2009, at Manoa Senior Care Home at age 93. Born on April 24, 1916, in Halawa, she was a retired school cafeteria manager at Nimitz Elementary school in Honolulu.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Y.K. Lee, sisters Irene Lum and Alma Lee and brother Robert Lee.
She is survived by her daughters Lynette (Glen) Magree and Donna (David) Stewart; son Randy (Cheryl) Lee; sister Jennie In; brothers Ah Fat and Clarence Lee; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viewing at 3:30 p.m., service at 4:30 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 13, at Church of the Crossroads located at 1212 University Avenue in Honolulu. Burial at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Hawaiian Memorial park in Kaneohe.
Aloha attire is suggested. Donations can be made to the Church of the Crossroads or UCC Transition House in Honolulu.

George Bobiles
George B. Bobiles of San Jose, Calif. died Oct. 9, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Santa Clara, Calif., at age 61. Born on June 11, 1948, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was a floral designer for Micheals.
He was preceded in death by his parents Angel Bobiles and Carlina Bobiles.
He is survived by his children Tanya (Isaiah) Martinez, Danielle (Jeff) Marchent, Erin (Marnelle) Sheriff, Sam (Kim) Bobiles and Dominic Bobiles; 10 grandchildren; siblings Angela (Terrance) Parker, Allen (Nieves) Bobiles, Marilyn (Jace) Bobiles, Jeffrey (Vanessa) Bobiles; long time friends Antonio Radilla and Rueben Martinez of San Jose, Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles and cousins.
Services were held in San Jose, Calif., on Oct. 10, 2009.
Services on Kaua‘i will be private.
Ricky-Jay Pascual
Ricky-Jay Pascual of Mount Auburn died Nov. 4, 2009, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids at age 19. Born on Jan. 19, 1990, in Lihu‘e, he was a student at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Lint.
He is survived by his father, Billie Lint Sr. of Mount Auburn; biological parents Edgar Pascual of Greene and Nancy Nadzam of Rochester, Pa.; stepfather David Nadzam of Rochester, Pa.; stepmother Carly Chesnut of Waverly; grandparents Mila and Jerry Pascual of Greene and Salvador and Felicidad Bacsain of Lihu‘e; sisters Tiffany Pascual of Rochester, Pa.; Jamie Slagenweit of Cedar Rapids, Jesteny and Shelena Pascual of Waverly and Jasmine Wong of Rochester, Pa.; brothers Joseph (Gail) Ruzicka of Waterloo; Jimmi-Jon Lint of Mount Auburn, Justin Nadzam and Ryan Nadzam of Rochester, Pa.; uncles Charles Pascual of Greene and Chris Bacsain of Lihu‘e; aunts Lucia Bacsain of Lihu‘e, Mena Brissett of Lihu‘e, Mary Bacsain of Lihu‘e and Grace Bacsain of Lihu‘e; nephews Eli and Tanner Ruzicka; niece Kyra Nicgorski of Rochester, Pa.

Remy James Kaleopaa Remigio of Mililani died Nov. 4, 2009, at Queen’s Medical Center at age 50. Born on Aug. 8, 1959, in Honolulu, he was an auto mechanic.
He is survived by his wife BlueBird Remigio; sons Carlos Limas Jr., Steven Limas, Anthony Limas, George Takenaka and Richard Takenaka; daughters Shawntelle Kahele, Rita Garcia, Lisa Rose and Tamiko Gaul; 60 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren; mother Winona Venne; brothers Johnny Remigio, Reno Remigio, Mathew Padilla and Kimo Venne; sister Lita Ferguson; nieces and nephews.
Visitation from 1 to 2 p.m., service at 2 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 13, at the Waikalani Kingdom Hall, 239 Palii St. in Wahiawa, Hawai‘i.
Visitation again from 1 to 2 p.m., service at 2 p.m., on Nov. 14, at the Kapa‘a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness.

George Kealoha Yamashita of Hanama‘ulu died Nov. 4, 2009, Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 58.
Born on Feb. 9, 1951, in Honolulu, he was a construction worker at Kamehameha Schools.
He is survived by his wife Arde Yamashita; children Bobbi “Kalei” (Raymond) Lum King, Corrine “Mahi” (George) Potts, both of Honolulu and George “Aukai” Yamashita of Lihu‘e; stepchildren Ardeen “Nalani” Nobriga, Mahealani Corpuz, Henry “Kalani” (Cathie) Long IV, all of Maui, Thomas “Kala” Long of Honoka‘a and Robert “Kilo” (Sam) Long of Lihu‘e; brothers Paul (Treasure) Yamashita of Maui and Michael (Cindy) Yamashita of Waimanalo; sisters Rosella “U‘I” (Bobby) Makua of Waimanalo, Bobbi Lynn (Narciso) Eugenio of Papakolea, Lori Ann (Kevin) Firth of O‘ahu; 29 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
