Kaua‘i High School graduate and current University of Hawai‘i freshman Jamilee Jimenez placed within the top 10 of all three of her events at the Northern Arizona Classic on Saturday at the J. L. Walkup Skydome.
This was Hawai‘i’s final indoor competition before the Western Athletic Conference championships in Idaho. The Wahine track team as a whole set eight seasonal bests and six personal bests, while winning two events.
Jimenez posted two personal bests in the long jump and 200 Meter events.
The 19-year-old out of Lihu‘e was competing in the 200 Meters for the first time of the season for Hawai‘i and still took fourth in the event with a time of 26.46.
She also took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet 7 inches. Teammate Annett Wichmann took third in the long jump at 17 feet 8 3/4 inches. Wichmann also won the shot put with a throw of 45 feet 11 1/4 inches.
Hawai‘i swept the top three spots in the high jump with Amber Kaufman finishing first at 5 feet 11 1/2 inches. Freshman Sarah Saddleton was second with a personal best of 5 feet 9 3/4 inches, and senior Emily Sheppard finished third with a jump of 5 feet 7 3/4 inches.
