LIHU‘E — Following its two-point edge over Papalina Monday night, the G-Unit dropped to Ho‘ouila, 20-14 in the second of three boys’ basketball games played Saturday at Kaua‘i High School.
With those results, Ho‘ouila, dropping to Hanakila, Monday, ends with a three-way tie for second place as Papalina picked up a 41-17 showing over Westside.
Hanakila remains undefeated with its 53-28 win over Team Central. In the win, James Paik led the black-and-gold with 11 points.
Kanalu Simao finished with eight points for Team Central followed by Lansen Eto and Jedidaia Blake each netting seven points.
Tystin Gummerus paced the Papalina win with eight points followed by Javan Torres and Vaughn Thompson netting seven points apiece. Briggs Agu led the Westside effort with four points.
Kerwin Morano topped the Ho‘ouila win on an eight-point note while Tyler Fernandez topped the G-Unit scoring with five points followed by Una Masaniai adding four points.
In a single girls match, Nicole Palacio finished with a game-high 10 points to lead Kaulupono to a 36-4 win over the Z-Girls.
Makena Huddy-Pila and Chazlyn Zablan netted buckets for the Z-Girls.
The county’s 13 and Under boys action continues Monday at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center when Hanakila hosts Westside starting at 6 p.m.
Lihu‘e meets Papalina starting at 7 p.m. and in the finale, Ho‘ouila takes on Team Central starting at 8 p.m.
The girls play Thursday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center when Kaulupono takes on the Kamikaze-Red at 6 p.m. and the Z-Girls match up with Kamikaze-White starting at 7 p.m.
