Dylan Goodale made the finals in all three divisions, winning each heat all the way to the finals, but could only take the win in the Explorer Men’s division at the National Scholastic Surfing Association, Event No. 5 at the Turtle Bay Resort over the weekend.
According to a release from Surfersvillage Global Surf News, Malia Manuel showed her power moves with a win in the Open Women’s and a second place in the Explorer Women’s.
Saturday opened with double heats for half a day in the Open Mini Groms, Explorer Girls, Open Longboard, Explorer Longboard running to the finals at Middles.
First rounds of Open Boys, Explorer Boys and Explorer Menehune also ran with Kona Oliveira scoring his first time win in the Open Mini Groms. Dax McGill scored in the Explorer Girls and Dylan Aoki-Walsh took the Explorer Boys.
Kalani David was impressive in his victory in the Explorer Menehune, and the Surfco surfer was Elijah Gates for always smiling and having great sportsmanship, the release states.
Sponsors who made the event work include RVCA, Surfing Magazine, WaveWatch.com, Vans, Smith Heavywater, Xcel, Wahoo’s fish taco, Kalani Robb, Honu Group, Surfco, Jason Nalu Bogie, Bubble Gum, Koa Tree Foundation and ASP Hawai‘i.
