The Kapa‘a and Waimea high schools’ boys and girls soccer teams split their Thursday afternoon matches in Kapa‘a.
In the early afternoon game, Waimea’s boys defeated Kapa‘a, 2-0 with goals from Devan Banasihan and Caleb Licke.
Then later, Kapa‘a got a 4-0 shut-out victory from the girls junior varsity team. Leading the Lady Warriors was Rachael Hinkel who scored back-to-back goals in the 16th and 17th minute, giving Kapa‘a an edge going into the half.
Kapa‘a then got second-half goals from Leilani Caspillo and Laurie Tamayo.
No scores were reported for the Island School versus Kaua‘i High School exhibition match.
Waimea hosts Kaua‘i today with the boy JV game starting at 10 a.m.
