Shendrina Ebinger
Shendrina Ebinger of Kapa‘a died Jan. 3, 2009, at Garden Isle Healthcare Center at the age of 98. Born Sept. 14, 1910, in Kapa‘a, she was a retired housekeeper.
She is survived by daughters Bessie Hendricks and Barbara Ebinger; sons Albert (Marina) Soares, Ralley (Gloria) Ebinger and Abraham (Dora) Lovell; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a; Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Catherine’s Church Cemetery.
Borthwick Mortuary assisted the Ebinger family with arrangements.
Peter Dease
Peter Warren Dease died Nov. 11, 2008, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 73. Born Sept. 28, 1935, in Koloa, he was a retired manager for Hawai‘i Visitors and Convention Bureau.
He is survived by sisters Dulce Dease Shafer, Theanne Dease Specht, Elizabeth Dease McNamara and Jeanne Johnson; and brother David Branch.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Kapa‘a.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kaua‘i Museum, the Kaua‘i Historical Society or National Tropical Botanical Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Donald A. Merkel
Merkel Donald A. Merkel of Carefree, Ariz., died Dec. 13, 2008, in Scottsdale, Ariz., at the age of 64. Born March 28, 1944, in Los Angeles, Calif., he was a retired lieutenant of Milipitas Police Department in California.
He was preceded in death by son Stephen A. Merkel.
He is survived by wife Rose (Loki) Merkel; daughters Krista Rios, Julie Waters, Sandee Harris, Desiree Bedford and Mistie Mathews; and seven grandchildren.
Service was held at Friday, Dec. 19, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society by visiting the Web site www.cancer.org/donate
