KYBA tourney next week
The public is invited to view the competition at the 11th Annual Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association’s 17 and Under tournament starting next Thursday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Eight teams are involved including at least two from O‘ahu — Ikaika Basketball and the Pu‘uloa Bandits.
Thursday’s schedule has all eight teams playing, starting at 5:30 p.m., and the final game scheduled to tip off starting at 8:30 p.m.
Semifinals will be played Friday from 5:30 p.m. with the championship game scheduled for Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
Hoops signups underway
The 4th Annual Kaua‘i Open Invitational Boys Basketball Tournament is currently taking applications from 12 and Under and 14 and Under teams.
Hosted by the Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i and the ZZ Youth Basketball Program, the tournament will allow a coed team and will also entertain an all-girls team to compete against the boys’ team for this year’s tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to run June 26-28 at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center, and deadline for registration is June 15.
An all-girls tournament will be created if there are at least four teams per age division which enter by the registration deadline.
The age determination for all players is Dec. 31, 2007.

Junior Series starts Thursday
The Nawiliwili Yacht Club invites the public to view the competition in its four-race Junior Invitational Series which gets underway next Thursday at the Nawiliwili Harbor.
There is no charge to view the competition which starts with the first flag flying at 5 p.m.
There is a post-race party at the NYC Clubhouse at the conclusion of the race.
3 G’s Nation 3-point shootout on, now
The 3 G’s Nation basketball program announces the first 3-Point shootout which started May 24 and ends July 12.
Signups for the contest are taking place at any of the summer league games taking place at either the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center or the Kapa‘a High School gym.
