Hubert “Billy” Brandt of Kekaha died at his home on Aug. 17, 2007, at the age of 62.
Born in Honolulu, O‘ahu, on April 24, 1945, he was a retired supply technician with Dyne Electron/Pacific Missile Range Facility.
Preceded in death by parents Hubert and Roselani Brandt and sisters Althea Lazaro (Damiano) and Joyce Puu, he is survived by brother Melvin (Sweetheart) Berengue Sr. of O‘ahu; caregivers and nephews, Chico (Elise) Lazaro, Leroy Lazaro, Michael (Wanda) Lazaro, all of Kekaha; Kimo (Rochelle) Lazaro, of Waimea; and Damien (Theri) Lazaro of Kalaheo; caregiver and niece Lani (Kainoa) Keuma, of Hanapepe; brother-in-law Charlie Puu, of O‘ahu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends can visit with the family from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery pavilion; graveside service at 2:30 p.m. Inurnment to follow. Casual aloha attire is suggested.

Jessica Elena Blando of Wailuku, died Aug. 26, 2007, at her home at the age of 31.
Born Dec. 20, 1975 on Kaua‘i, she was a reservationist with the Grand Wailea Hotel.
She is survived by her husband Freddie Blando, mother Dorothy Furtado; son Jeffrie Blando; sisters Alison Crichton, Caroline Dodge, Tina Furtado, Peggy Furtado and April Toussant; brothers Frank Furtado, Jessie Furtado, Clinton Furtado, Bradley Furtado and Thomas Furtado.
Services were yesterday at Borthwick Norman’s Mortuary. Arrangements were handled by Borthwick Normans Mortuary.
Benita Dumayas Batangan
Benita Dumayas Batangan of ‘Ele‘ele died Aug. 10, 2007, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, at the age of 84.
Born Aug. 22, 1922, in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by daughters Apolonia (Stanley Oshima) Ramelb and Melchora (Monico) Paguirigan; son Jose (Magdalena) Batangan and sister Eduvejes Patinga; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends can call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 7, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa and again from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, at ‘Ele‘ele Sacred Hearts Church where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
H. Dale Stark
H. Dale Stark, 83, of Port Charlotte, Florida, and formerly of Kilauea died Aug. 30, 2007, at home.
He was born in Cisne, Ill., and after serving in the U.S. Army, World War II in Europe, he graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, Ill, in 1950 with a degree in Business Administration. Following graduation he bought a tire and appliance store in Charleston, IL, where he also had farming and real estate interests. For many years he was active in Kiwanis, served on various community committees and as a deacon in the Christian church.
In 1978 he sold his business and moved with his wife to Kaua‘i but continued to manage his various business interests. On Kaua‘i, he was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. In 2004, because of declining health, he moved to Port Charlotte from Hawai‘i to be closer to family. He was a member of St. Nathaniel’s Episcopal Church of North Port.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, June Bruce Stark, of Port Charlotte; daughters, Ann (Dr. Gary) Berger of Placida, Fla., Nicki (Thomas) Medeiros of St. Paul, Ore.; Mary (Frank Dwyer) Stark of Pasadena, Calif.; brother Rev. William Stark of Stamping Ground, Ky.; sister Joyce Haynes of Hubert Heights, OH; and six grandchildren, David Medeiros of Redwood City, Calif., Jonathon Medeiros of Kalaheo, Sarah Medeiros of Portland, Ore; Chris Berger, of Savage, Minn.; John Berger of Port Charlotte, and Daniel Berger of Auburn, Ala.

Salud “Sally” (Julian) Samiano, of Hanama‘ulu, died at her home on Aug. 25, 2007, at the age of 87.
Born in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Oct. 24, 1919, she was a retired sales clerk with Robert’s Shoe Store.
Preceded in death by husband Jose Samiano Sr. and son Marcial Samiano; brother Johnny Fabian; and daughter-in-law Mary Samiano. She is survived by sons Jose (Virginia) Samiano Jr., of O‘ahu, Dante Samiano, of Los Angeles; Rudy (Katherine) Samiano, of Wailua, Melvin (Constance) Samiano, of Los Angeles; daughters Carmen (Richard) Ubasa, of Honolulu; Evelyn (Marcelino) Taroc, of Wailua; hanai daughter Cecilia Ramirez of Honolulu; brother Herman (Yolanda) Fabian of Hanama‘ulu; sister Fe Flores of Kapa‘a; daughter-in-law Emily Samiano of Honolulu; sister-in-law Nina Fabian of Chicago; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.
