Katey Mitsue Liu
Katey Mitsue Liu of Kapa‘a, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 30, 2005 at the age of 80.
Born in Wailuku, Maui on Jan. 16, 1925, she was a proprietor of Liu’s Cantonese Foods.
She is survived by two sons, Alan Liu and Randal Liu, both of Kapaa; two daughters, Karen Liu of Kapa‘a and Phyllis (Craig) Funada of Hilo; one grandchild; two brothers, Steve (Vi) Arakawa of Cerritos, Calif., and Wallace (Take) Arakawa of Torrance, Calif.; two sisters, Gladys (Harold) Holcombe of Greenville, SC and Anna (Don) Shigaki of Torrance, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews. Services were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Caridad Suguitan
Caridad De Santa Ana Suguitan of Hanama‘ulu, died July 8, 2005, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 90.
Born Oct. 11, 1914, in Piddig, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband: Esteban Suguitan of Hanama‘ulu; two sons: Paul Suguitan of Hanama‘ulu and Domingo (Tracy) Suguitan of Los Angeles, Calif.; three daughters: June (Benjamin) Esteban of Lihu‘e, Remy (John) Peralta of Washngton, and Marina (Mark) Martinez of Puhi; 24 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa. Cremation will follow.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Everett Haumea
Everett Ipoaloha Haumea of Kekaha died at his home on July 8, 2005, at the age of 57.
Born in Waimea on Sept. 30, 1947, he was a heavy equipment operator with Kekaha Sugar.
He is survived by his wife, Carmelita Haumea; two sons, Kalani Haumea and Alika Haumea of Kekaha; daughter, Cookie (Kaui) Haumea of Kekaha; three grandchildren; three brothers, Evaron Haumea of Seattle, Wash., Terrance (Girlie) Castillo of Waimea and Shane (Estrellita) Castillo of Hanapepe; three sisters, Keikilani (Wayne) Harada of Wainiha; Johnell (John) Word of Kailua and Wendy (Glenn) Tanno of Kaumakani. Friends may visit with the family at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service officiated by Bishop Darick Akita will begin at 5 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
