day so far, the surf’s picking up, we’ve got Jamba Juice here,” NSSA-Hawai‘i conference director Bobby Parker-Lee said.
The surfing continues today, with the remainder of events starting off at around 8 a.m.
The sixth regular season contest, which will end today at Pine Trees will be followed by the Hurley International Hawaiian Regional Championships, also at Pine Trees.
In the eight years of the NSSA Regionals, this will be the very first time the contest will be held on Kaua‘i (Pine Trees).
“Our kids have worked really hard this year and it should be really fun for them to be on Kaua‘i for the competition,” Parker-Lee said.
“I wanted a change, I just thought Kaua‘i has really opened its arms to us and this would be the best place to bring this event,” Parker-Lee said. She also noted that former NSSA national champion Andy Irons, who’s the 3-time defending ASP World Tour chamipion and his brother Bruce, another NSSA champ, who are both from Kaua‘i, helped out a lot with the event coming to the island of champions (Kaua‘i). Jamba Juice was on hand, giving out free smoothies for most of the day.
The head smoothie maker mentioned that they’ll have more delicious smoothies on hand today as well.
“I think today is going to cap off a great weekend, we got blessed, as we didn’t have any rain yesterday,” Parker-Lee said.
Hurley International is the main sponsor for the NSSA-Hawai‘i contest number eight.
