With light winds coming from the southwest, Kaua‘i Hoe Wa‘a’s second race of the season featured about 50 paddlers racing from Kalapaki to Wailua for the long course and Kalapaki to Hanama`ulu for the short course on Jan. 22.
In the long course, Mark Frazier secured his second win of the season though Butch Keahialalo closed the gap with each race and came in a close second.
Alana Goo led the women’s long course in top form though Margie Goodno, Mellisa Hall and Katy Curtis followed close behind.
Greg Daves finished first in the men’s short course and Tracy Lee Capman, a new member this season, came first in the women’s division and took her second win of the season.
