Thompson Academy, Kaua‘i School recently earned a specialty award, QWAVE “Out in the Silence” Award for her LGBTO+ project that was submitted to the state History Day competition that featured 34 participating schools, including Kapa‘a Middle School. Alina was the sole Kaua‘i entrant and MBTA’s only entrant to win a prize at the state competition.

Jed Somit does a book signing on Saturday, May 4, 2024, during the First Saturday event on the sidewalks of downtown Kapa‘a for shoppers who stopped to find out more about “Men are Pigs.” Jed will be at the Anaina Hou Community Park Mini Golf on Mother’s Day from noon to 4 p.m.

Jed Somit, Kaua‘i senior softballer — where are the East Kaua‘i Legends in the standings? — and author of “Men are Pigs,” will be spending Mother’s Day at the Anaina Hou Community Park mini golf from noon on Sunday because “Men are Pigs” have several Mother’s Day-themed passages.
