Hanapepe evades Northshore

The first game of the day saw the Lihu‘e Patriots and the Northshore Na Ali‘i in pee-wee action. The first score came on a 38 yard run by Keahi Benzon, who took the ball around the left side of the Patriots line and scored with 7:56 on the clock in the first quarter. The kick by Kalen Kimura for the Patriots was good and the score was Lihu‘e Patriots (PW)-8 and the Na Ali‘i (PW)-O. This touchdown came in the first quarter of play. The second touchdown was by Taran Tani who took the ball and went 22 yards into the end zone, the kick by Kalen Kimura was good making the score Lihu‘e Patriots (PW)-16 and NaAli‘i (PW)-O. This touchdown came with 3:00 minutes on the clock in the first quarter.
In the second quarter of play the Northshore Na Ali‘i held the Patriots to 16 points. In the third quarter, Canaan Bernard took the ball on a 15 yard run and scored for the Patriots. The kick by Kalen Kimura was good and the score was, Lihu‘e Patriots (PW)-24 and Northshore Na Ali‘i (PW)-O. This touchdown came with 5:40 on the clock in the quarter. The fourth quarter saw both teams settle down and play a defensive game. No scoring in the fourth quarter of play, final score was Lihu‘e Patriots (PW)-24 and Northshore Na Ali‘i (PW)-O.

The second game of the day was between the Hanapepe Colts (JPW) and the Northshore Na Ali‘i (JPW). The first score of the game came on a 28 yard touchdown run by Clifton Callejo and the kick after was good. The score was kicked by Dallas Correa of Hanapepe Colts, which made the score, Hanapepe (JPW)-8 and the Northshore Na Ali’l (JPW)-O. This score came with 5:30 on the clock in the first quarter. The next score came on a punt return by Mikeo Rita and the kick for the extra point by Dallas Correa was good, so the score stood at Hanapepe Colts (JPW)-16 and Northshore Na Ali‘i (JPW)-O. Defensive plays by Ka‘awa Soloman and Rajan Baliaris, Ranson Camat kept the Colts in check for this quarter.
During the third quarter, Clifton Callejo intercepted a pass from Ka‘awa Solomon and ran it in from 45 yards out, the kick by Dallas Correa was good and the score was Hanapepe Colts (JPW)-24 and Northshore Na Ali’l (JPW)-O. Dallas Correa for the Hanapepe Colts (JPW) made all three kicks for the extra points, Correa was three for three on the day. This game ended with the score of Northshore Na Ali’l (JPW)-O and Hanapep’e Colts (JPW)-24.
Midgets: Hanapepe 26, Northshore 8
The third game of the day was between the Hanapepe Colts (M) and the Northshore Na Ali‘i (M).
Scoring first was Hanapepe Colts (M), James Delos-Reyes who took the ball and raced 15 yards into the end zone scoring for the Colts (M). The point after was kicked by Cody Owen, and that kick was good making the score Hanapepe Colts (M)-8 and the Northshore Na Ali’l (M)-O. This score came with 6:21 on the game clock in the first quarter.
The next score came on a run by Cole Parangao, who took the hand-off and raced 55 yards to pay dirt, the point after was kicked by Cody Owen and the point after was good making the score Hanapepe Colts(M)-16 Northshore Na Ali’l (M)-O. The half ended with the score Hanapepe-16 and Northshore-0.
In the fourth quarter Hanapepe Colts (M) scored a safety against the Northshore Na Ali‘i (M) and the score was now Hanapepe Colts (M)-18 and Northshore Na Ali‘i (M)-O.
Na Ali’l (M) got on the score board when Vaughn Nebre intercepted a pass from Allen-Michael Gaspar and returned to ball for a touchdown, going 85 yards for the score. The point after was kicked by Joe-Boy Enrique and the kick was good making the score Hanapepe Colts (M)-18 and Northshore NaAli‘i (M)-8. This score came with 2:24 left on the clock in the fourth quarter.
With 1:36 left on the clock in the fourth quarter, Allen-Michael Gaspar took a pass from Cole Parangao for 30 yards and a touchdown. The extra point was kicked by Cody Owen making the score, Hanapepe Colts (M)-26 and Northshore Na Ali‘i (M)-8. The game ended with this score. Defensive plays by Kaipo Contrades, Roger Taniguchi-Fu, and Jacob Kuhaulua were keys in keeping the score down.
Midgets: Kekaha 16, Lihu‘e 0
The next game pitted the Kekaha Chargers and the Lihu‘e Patriots (M). This midget game was a hard fought game of teams with strong running backs. Kekaha Chargers runningback Wesley Schmidt ran hard for every yard and Lihu‘e runningback Pono Matthews also did a lot of running for Lihu‘e.
In the first quarter, Kekaha Chargers quarterback Jayrald Watanabe threw a touchdown pass to Kylan Gandia who went 9 yards for the score after receiving the pass for quarterback Watanabe. The extra point was kicked by “Bully” Pancho of the Chargers, as kick was good and the score was, Kekaha Chargers-8 and Lihu‘e Patriots (M) 0. The game became a defensive struggle until the second quarter. With 46 seconds left on the clock, in the second quarter, Kailen Malama intercepted a pass from Pono Matthews and raced 45 yards for the score. The extra point was kicked by “Bully” Pancho and the kick was good making the score at this time, Kekaha Chargers-16 and Lihu‘e Patriots (M)-O.
The Kekaha Chargers kept the pressure on Lihu‘e’s Pono Matthews and Paleku Yasay while hard running by Jayrald Watanabe, Wesley Schmidt and Kailen Malama kept the ball out of the Patriots hands for the remainder of the game. Big defensive plays by Kekaha kept Lihu‘e from scoring.
JPW: Lihu‘e 20, Kekaha 0
The final game of the day was between the Kekaha Panthers JPW and the Lihu‘e Patriots (JPW).
After one full quarter of play the teams were at a scoreless tie, the teams moved the ball between the 30 yard lines. Defensive stops by Kekaha Panthers Alika Emayo, and Brother Acetyn Emayo kept Lihu‘e out of the end zone in this quarter. On the Lihu‘e side of the ball, John Das was the favorite receiver for the Lihu‘e Patriots.
First score of the game came on a pass from Ramboyan, Keone to John Das. The extra point by Travis Koga on a run, the extra point was good making the score Lihu‘e Patriots (JPW)-7 and the Kekaha Panthers-0. Pass play late in the second quarter to Alika Emayo was good for a big gain although it did not result in a score. With 1:31 on the clock in the third quarter, Travis Koga rambled 72 yards for the score, the extra point try was no good and the score was Lihu’e Patriots (JPW)-13 and the Kekaha Panthers-0. On the kick-off Lihu‘e jumped on a live ball and took over and on the second play from scrimmage, Kellen Aquino took the ball and ran 40 yards for a touchdown. This score came with 39 seconds left on the clock in the third quarter. The extra point was on a pass from Keone Ramboyan to John Das, making the score, Lihu‘e Patriots (JPW)-20 and Kekaha Panthers-0.
In the fourth quarter the game became a defensive battle between the 30 yard lines with both teams trying to move the ball into the end zone for a score.
JPW: Koloa 7, Kapa‘a 0
On Sunday, the first game of the day was between the Kapa‘a Eagles (JPW) and the Koloa Packers.
This game went scoreless for three whole quarters both teams playing strong defense, on the Eagles side of the ball, Brentten Rapozo, Keane Agoot, Jakey Alves, Kaulana Kaui, Earl Thronas, Austin Thronas, Brandon Kaui were all tough on defense. Kapa‘a threatened on two occasions, but were unable to penetrate the 66 “steel curtain” of the Koloa Packers. The extra point was run into the end zone by Isaac Tehero on a quarterback keeper around the right side of the line, score was now Koloa Packers-7 and the Kapa‘a Eagles (JPW)-O. Defensively for the Koloa Packers were Isaac Tehero, Cameron Twiggs, Kalei Fujita, Mark Saniatan, and Tanner Rivera.
PW: Koloa 41, Kapa‘a 6
The second game of the day was between Pee Wee teams from Koloa and Kapa‘a: The Koloa “Westside” Rams and the Kapa‘a Eagles (PW). The scoring started after Kalama Resquer-Yorkman intercepted a pass from Kapa‘a and took the ball down to the 18 yard line where Koloa took over. On the next play with 8:59 on the clock, Mike Blackstad took the ball on a 15 yard run into the end zone for the score. The extra point was kicked by Ross Ozaki and he put the ball through the uprights.
The next score came with 5:49 on the clock in the first quarter on a run by Kalama Resquer-Yorkman who took the ball in from 20 yards out for the score. The kick by Ross Ozaki was good and the score stood at Koloa “Westside” Rams-16 and the Kapa‘a Eagles (PW)-O.
The Kapa‘a Eagles (PW) got on the board on a 50 yard pass from CJ Estanzo to Dalton Thronas. The extra point attempt on a run was no good and the score stood at Kapa‘a Eagles (PW)-6 and Koloa “Westside” Rams-16. This score came in the first quarter with 3:14 on the clock. Koloa Rams scored on a 32 yard pass from Brandon Scovel to Kalama Resquer-Yorkman. This score came with 1:56 on the clock in the first quarter. The extra point kick by Ozaki went wide and the point was no good, score now was Koloa “Westside” Rams-22 and Kapa‘a Eagles (PW)-6. In the second quarter with 4:58 on the clock, Koloa’s Torry Santiago intercepted a pass from Kapa‘a’s quarterback CJ Estanzo and Santiago ran 55 yards for the score. The extra point was on a quarterback keeper by Brandon Scovel, the score was good and the score was Koloa “Westside” Rams-29, Kapa‘a Eagles (PW)-6.
In the third quarter with 6:32 on the clock, Koloa “Westside” Rams scored again this time on a 35 yard run by Kaulana Wa‘ailani-Arroyo, kick was no good and the score was Koloa “Westside” Rams-35 and the Kapa‘a Eagles (PW)-6.
In the fourth and final quarter Koloa “Westside” Rams scored on a 6 yard run by Kalama Resquer-Yorkman, this play came with the clock winding down, and the extra point failed making the score Koloa “Westside” Rams-41 and Kapa‘a Eagles (PW)-6.
Midgets: Koloa 30, Kapa‘a 0
The third and final game of the day was played between the Koloa Raiders and the Kapa‘a Eagles (M), this game started out with some hard hitting and a score by Hilton Delima-Kamai scored on a one yard plunge. This score came with 7:18 on the clock in the first quarter of play. The extra point failed and the score remained Koloa Raiders-6, Kapa‘a Eagles (M)-O. With 6:09 on the clock in the third quarter, Kapa’a Eagles lost the ball at the goal line and Joe Brun tackled the Kapa‘a ball carrier who was in the end zone for a safety.
Koloa Raiders received the ball on a free kick after the safety and on a pass from Tryus Ceria-Lux to KeIii Ruiz with 4:40 on the clock in the third quarter. The extra point failed and the score stood Koloa Raiders-14 and Kapa’a Eagles (M)-O. 6:41 in the game in the fourth quarter, Koloa Raiders’ Hilton Delima-Kamai scored from 21 yards out and the extra point was good making the score Koloa Raiders-22 and the Kapa’a Eagles (M)-O.
Loren Duarte of the Koloa Raiders scored on a 3 yard run with 2:13 on the clock in the fourth quarter. Extra point was good and the score was Koloa Raiders-30, Kapa‘a Eagles (M)-O, from this point on the clock became a running clock because of the score. The game ended with this score. Many hard hits were put on by the Kapa‘a Eagles (M). Hard hitting by the Chong Brothers Davin and Brandon, running by Quarterback Bryston Rapozo kept the Eagles in the game all the way to the final horn. Defensive plays by Michael Almodova, Stephen Turner and Sean-Michael Shigematsu helped to stop the Raiders drive to the end zone on more then one occasion. The Rapozo clan was well represented on the defensive and offensive side of the ball for the Kapa’a Eagles (M), Antone “Mauka” Rapozo on defense along with Austin Rapozo, Braden Rapozo, and quarterback Bryston Rapozo, that’s a lot of Rapozos on one team, fine job “Gentleman!”
