ANAHOLA – Lorna “La” Contrades and Kris Offenbacher were their respective group winners of the Mini Singles HorseShoe Pitching tournament, which was recently held in Anahola.
The Anahola HorseShoe Club was host to the tournament. The Mini tourney, sanctioned and reported to the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association, is held on Kaua’i each year.
Contrades, of the Anahola Club, topped Group 1. She edged Jim “Hawk” Hawkins of Hanalei Horseshoe Pitchers (second place) and Don Griffith Alberta Canada (third).
The Canadian, Griffith, is the President for the Province of Alberta HorseShoe Pitchers Association in Canada. He has a membership that totals over 800 pitchers. Griffith also holds a ringer average of 61.59-percent, meaning he nets 61 ringers out of every 100 pitches.
Offenbacher, of Hanalei Horseshoe Pitchers, won Group II, edging Clarence Gardner (second place) of Anahola Horseshoe and Kim Leinstedt (third place) of Hanalei Horseshoe.
Overall, the tourney hosted 14 pitchers.
