Shigeto Yamaguchi
Shigeto Yamaguchi of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on May 28, 2002, at the age of 67.
Born in Kalaheo, Kauai on Feb. 25, 1935, he was a District Engineer with the State of Hawaii, Dept. of Transportation.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Yamaguchi of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; son, Duane (Cindy) Yamaguchi of Mililani; two daughters, Wendy (Milton) Yamaguchi of Lihu’e, Kaua’i and Cadice (Fred) Pascual of Koloa, Kauai; sister, Masu Batchelder of CA; two sisters in law, Okisa Yamaguchi of Kalaheo, Kauai and Yuri Yamaguchi of Manoa, O’ahu; numerous grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jun. 2, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service officiated by Rev. George Maeda will begin at 2 p.m. Burial to follow at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

George Fernandez
George Fernandez of Kekaha, Kauai, died May 24, 2002, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home, at the age of 84.
An accountant for Kekaha Sugar Plantation, he was born April 23, 1918, in Waimea, Kaua’i.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Fernandez of Kekaha; one daughter: Patti Ann (Steven) Niau of Lawai; two sons: George “Chico” (Marie) Fernandez and Gerrit (Barbara) Fernandez, both of California; three grandchildren; two brothers: Anthony (Alice) Fernandez of California; Lawrence (Shirley) Fernandez of Kona; one sister: Ruth Trolesi of California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call on Friday, May 31, at St. Theresa Church from 10 a.m. where services will be celebrated at St. Theresa’s Church from 10 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
The family asks that flowers be omitted and suggests casual attire.

Jeffrey Briggs
Jeffrey Alan Briggs, of Wailua, died in Lawai at the home of a friend on May 24, 2002, at the age of 54.
A self-employed painter and former waiter at Coco Palms, Kauai Surf, and The Westin Kauai, he was born on Dec. 19, 1947, in Glendale, Calif. and moved to Kaua’i in 1969.
He is survived by his father: Al Briggs, of Austin, Tex., his mother: Frances (Don) Messersmith, of Escondido, Calif.; brothers: Mike Langdon of Ramona, Calif., and Scott Briggs, of Boise, Idaho; sister: Heidi Hess, of Escondido, Calif., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, near “Middle-of-the-Bay Parking Lot” in Hanalei. A potluck will follow.
Maria Eder
Maria Merced Cadavona Eder of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, died May 20, 2002, at Wahiawa General Hospital on O’ahu, at the age of 90.
Born Jan. 10, 1912, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by daughters: Maggie (Jose) Acoba, Carlina (Mark) Eder-da Silva, Adele (Marcelo) Pedronan of Hanama’ulu, Lucrecia Cacal, both of Hanama’ulu; brothers, Dionicio Cadavona of Hanama’ulu, Hilario Cadavona of Malampa, Philippines, and Gregorio (Purita) Cadavona of Hanama’ulu; sister, Catalina Delos Santos of Malampa, Philippines; 12 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Monday, June 3, at Immaculate Conception Church, Mass at 10 a.m. burial to follow at Kaua’i Memorial Gardens.
