Contest #5 of the 2001/2002 HSF Surf Kaua’i season took off Saturday at Pine Trees in Hanalei Bay.
In the Bodyboard divisions, Jeremy Ferguson came out on top of the 14-under bracket, beating Cory Mira, Makai Ferry, Jason Obe Smith, David Phillips and Noah Murray (In that order).
Ryan Moribe won the Junior 15-17, edging Phillip Pembrook, who notched second, along with Kyle Forker Pyper Luellen, Matthew Murray and Adam Bice, rounded the top six finishers.
The Senior 18’s was won by Jacob Pembrook. Casildo Quiroz followed in second; Kyle Forker came in third; Ryan Moribe in fourth; and Kainoa Lum came fifth.
Quiroz took second in the senior 18’s, but won the drop knee over Cory Mira. David Phillips, Jeremy Ferguson and Matthew Murray followed.
In the Surfing divisions, Kalani Martin shredded the Menehune 12-under with a first place finish. He was followed by Dylan Melamed, and Bear Bailey, Tyler Newton, Bethany Hamilton and Alex Smith rounded the Keike bunch.
Martin also took the 13-14 surfer’s division. He was followed by Tanner Haytin, Clay Posner, Cody Iddings, Kainoa Kuwabara and Spencer Regan.
Chris Satterfield was the man with the plan in the Junior 15-17 surfer’s division. He beat out Miguel Martinez, who came in second, and Kyle Calloway, Martin, and Hoku Hookano, all rounding the division in order.
In the girls 17-under division, Kristin Steiner nabbed first place over Erika Steiner. Andrianna Mendevil came in third; Alana Blanchard took fourth; Lyra Drouin took fifth and Rachel Parker took sixth to round out the girls 17’s.
Miguel Martinez jacked the waves to move on top of the 17-24 men’s surfer division. Kana Kirkpatrick, Paul Franzen, Chris Satterfield, Russel Lewis and Kyle Calloway rounded out the divion in that order.
And in the girls Longboard competition, Tommee Giltner took gold, followed by Kristen Steiner, Lyra Drouin, Erika Steiner and Vanessa Martinez.
