Ed Roessler notched the only victory for Kapa’a’s matchup against the Kaua’i Red Raider boy’s tennis team, but the Warriors were able to win two doubles matches and a singles bout in the girls’ games, which helped make for a competitive regular season outing at Ala Lani Spa Tennis Courts on Saturday.
Roessler beat Red Raider Chris Colacino 6-3, 6-2 in the first singles; Warrior Justin Nagai fell to Joshua Miyamoto 4-6, 2-6.
For girls singles, Kaua’i’s Rena Kido beat Serina Roush 6-3-6-2; Warrior Ashley Valvieja topped Lianne Williams in three sets, 7-6(7-3), 6-4.
For girls first doubles, Kaua’i’s Hokulani Jordan and Jennifer Kawaguchi beat Tasha Haraguchi and Ashley Tunac 6-1, 6-1. Kapa’a’s Tiana Laranio and Raysha Sadang topped Shannon Bulloch and Kellie Torigoe 6-0, 6-2. Shawna Tamayose and Mishelle Roush beat Jaymee Wakumoto and Elise Torigoe 6-0, 6-4, 6-7(9-7), 6-1.
For boys doubles, in was a Red Raider sweep. Chad Naganuma and Ronald Hosaka topped Andrew Walpole and Kyle Mahoney 6-2, 6-2. Ian White and Michael Hirahara topped Warriors Kia Tom and Cory Napoleon 7-6(7-5), 6-4. Kurt Teichman and Bryce Hosaka beat Tommy Yoshida and Garrett Danner 6-2, 1-6, 6-1.
For unofficial doubles matches, Tyler Carvalho and Tyler Inouye topped Eric Newhouse and Stephen Esaki 8-3; James Odan and Grant Teichman beat Martin Antonio Royce Hanada 8-3; Dylan Peckengaugh and Chad Naganuma beat Christian Cook and Cory Sokei 8-3.
For girls, Rena Kido and Kellie Torigoe topped Nicolette Cauresma and Jacklyn Filippe 8-2; Hokulani Jordan and Jennifer Kawaguchi beat Danielle Hill and Eve Lamenfeld 8-1; and Shannon Bulloch and Lianne Williams topped Tania Tasic and Tasha Haraguchi 8-4.
