KAPA’A – The Lady Falcons junior varsity squad soared to its second road victory over Kapa’a by a score of 62-39 Saturday afternoon at the Bernice Hundley gym.
The Warriors kept it close early and scored the initial basket of the second quarter to cut the Falcon lead to 9-8, but Kalani reeled off eight points before Pilialoha Keaweamahi’s pair of free throws snapped the run. The junior Lady Falcons again went on an eight-point run to close out the half with a 25-10 bulge.
Priscilla Utoafili led the way with a game-high 14 points for the victors and team-mate Richline Batoon contributed 13.
Keaweamahi, a freshman forward, battled tirelessly underneath and dropped in 10 points for the home squad, most coming on offensive rebound putbacks. Warrior co-captain Jasmine “Tita” Kuhaulua airmailed two long treys in the final period and Theresa Taylor displayed flashes from the perimeter with three buckets.
