County property tax assessments are being mailed next week by the county’s Real Property Assessment Division.
Property owners have a deadline of April 9 to appeal their assessments.
The Division advises owners to study the notice carefully. The assessment lists your land classification, property value, exemptions and net taxable value.
Errors should be reported to the Real Property Assessment Division at 241-6222.
To appeal your assessment requires no legal counsel. Appeals are heard before a five-member Board of Review, composed of property owners. The taxpayer will have the opportunity to present their case before the Board, and then the County’s appraiser will explain how the assessment was determined.
There is a $10 fee to appeal your assessment. Appeals may also be brought directly before the Tax Appeals Court.
Appeals will only be accepted between Friday, March 15 and Tuesday, April 9. Questions regarding your assessment notice or the appeals process should be referred to the Real Property Assessment Division at 241-6222.
