It’s hard to hit on one of Hawaii’s top pitchers.
It makes it even harder when that same pitcher hits the game-defining home run.
Leo Sing Chow struck out 11 batters and pitched a remarkable seven-inning shutout to lift Kamehameha to a 3-0 victory over the Waimea Menehunes last night at the UH Wahine Softball Stadium in Honolulu.
Sing Chow also went 2-for-3 with a home run.
The Menehunes, who have been knocked out of the running for a Hawaii State Title, will face Waiakae tonight in hopes for a consellation game.
The Menehune had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh but Sing Chow got Jamie Koerte’s hit into a fielder’s choice and then struck out Lynette Perreira for the third time to win the game.
The only Menehune hit came form catcher Destinie “Maka” Keamoai.
The Kamehameha win sets up a rematch of last year’s final against Baldwin, who advanced earlier with a win over Waiakea.
Last year the Bears beat the Warriors to win the state championship.
The Menehunes, who faced the toughest team in the state, fared well despite the loss.
The team they are next up against, Waiakea, fell to Baldwin 8-0 yesterday in the quarterfinals.
