LIHUE, HI. – Puakea Golf Course, owned by America Online founder Steve Case and managed by Billy Casper Golf (“BCG”), today announces it has named Danny Valera its 2001 Employee of the Year.
Puakea Golf Course Superintendent Dan Urwiler nominated Valera, a greenskeeper 2 at the daily fee course, for the Employee of the Year honors. (There are three levels of greenskeeper at Puakea.)
“Danny’s performance last year was consistently outstanding,” says Urwiler, who hired Valera in 2000. “He’s a good guy and one of our most conscientious employees.”
A native of Kauai who graduated from Kauai High School, Valera is a quick study and dedicated staff member who is responsible and dependable, Urwiler says. For his efforts, Puakea has rewarded Valera with round-trip airfare for two people to the Hawaiian Island of his choice.
