There is a major pre-season basketball tournament taking place today at Waimea High School’s Clem Gomes Gym, an early holiday gift for sports fans wanting to see a preview of Kaua’i basketball before the onset of 2002.
The tournament, thoughtfully dubbed the Menehune Classic, will feature all three KIF teams and three outer-island teams: St. Anthony High School, Pahoa High School and Hawaii Baptiste Acadamy. The tournament will be held on December 6, 7, and 8. They will run from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, 4-8 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The games will cost $1 per day for students, and $2 a day for adults.

Friday (Dec. 7):
