Kyle Strickland has been granted admission to Gonzaga University and will play men’s soccer for the Bulldogs this fall. He confirmed his intent to enroll, according to Gonzaga head coach Einar Thorarinsson.
Strickland, a midfielder/forward from Kaua’i, Hawai’i, was an All-KIF conference selection his sophomore and senior seasons at Kapa’a High while he played for the Hawai’i State ODP team in 2001. Strickland spent his junior season as an exchange student in Japan playing soccer for the Moriyama High team. He has also spent time playing in Brazil during the 1997 season against some of the best Brazilian teams in his age group.
“Strickland is a very talented player who can be a scoring threat with his speed and quickness,” stated coach Thorarinsson. “A very opportunistic player, Strickland is very similar to former Bulldog Jeff McAllister (Gonzaga’s all-time leading goal scorer) in the way he plays the game.”
