HANAPEPE — Kapaa High School’s varsity baseball team defeated Waimea, 6-3, Wednesday afternoon at Hanapepe Stadium.

Menehune win in straight sets at home

WAIMEA — The Menehune boys won at home to get their first win of the season’s second round. Waimea High School’s varsity boys volleyball team defeated Island School on Tuesday at the Clem Gomes Gym at Waimea High School.

Rookies hand Gents 1st loss of Senior Softball season

HANAMAULU — The Kauai Senior Softball League finally got a full schedule on the field of play near the midway point of the season. There was plenty of kupuna action at the Peter Rayno Park in Hanamaulu and the Wally Sonoda Softball Park in Kaumakani.

Red Raiders sweep Menehune

HANAPEPE — After winning the first round playoff game earlier last week, the Red Raiders started the second round 2-0. Kauai High School’s varsity baseball team won both games of Saturday’s doubleheader against Waimea High School at Hanapepe Stadium.

Kauai beats Island in 4

PUHI — The Voyagers won one of the battles, but the Red Raiders ultimately won the war. Kauai High School’s varsity boys volleyball team defeated Island School, 3-1, Friday night at the Wilcox Gymnasium in Puhi.

The Countdown wins award for community sports coverage

LIHUE — A small group that works to highlight Kauai’s sports scene has recently been acknowledged. Local sports media producing team The Countdown, which is regularly broadcasted on Ho’ike Kauai Community Television, won the W.A.V.E (Western Access Video Excellence) Award for the Sports Coverage-Community Producer category.
