Local girls club finishes 10th in Arizona tourney

A couple of coaches wanted to give local players a better chance at playing at the next level. At the club’s first showing on the Mainland, the team made an impression. Local club Ike Loa Volleyball Club competed in the Arizona Festival Volleyball Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz., which ended July 1.

Kauai team places 3rd at boys volleyball nationals

Youth volleyball team TAVA Hawaii placed third in the 17 club division (ages 17-and-under club teams) at the USA Volleyball Boys Junior National Championships in Phoenix, Ariz. The tournament ended Monday, and the team returned to Kauai on Tuesday.

KAPAA — The weekend of games in the Kauai Senior Softball League were played at the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex Softball Stadium and at the Wailua Houselots Garden Park. The six games cleared up the fight for seedings as the league heads into the State Senior Softball Championship in a few weeks on Maui.

Though disappointing, it’s the right call to pull Holloway

Much like every other fight fan in the state, I was shocked at the news of Max Holloway being pulled out of his title fight at UFC 226 this weekend. It was reported earlier this week Holloway was pulled from his fight with unbeaten challenger Brian Ortega because his team noticed concussion-like symptoms in the days leading up to the fight.

LIHUE — The Kauai Senior Softball League turned up lop-sided results in a full day of action. The Isenberg Softball Park saw a tripleheader hosted by the Aloha Kia Lihue A’s. At the same time, Da Kruzers invited teams for three games at the Bryan J.Baptiste Sport Complex Softball Stadium.
