WAILUA — The search for a Lihue fisherman reported missing Saturday was suspended Monday afternoon following a three-day, multi-agency effort.
Darall Pascua, 55, is being reported as Kauai’s sixth drowning this year.
According to a preliminary report, Pascua was standing on the reef in waters off of Marine Camp, near the Wailua Golf Course, while attempting to retrieve a fishing net about 50 yards from shore.
A friend on shore lost sight of him and called 911 shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Pascua was last seen wearing red, green and yellow board shorts and no shirt.
Pascua could not be located despite a three-day air, land, and sea-based search with a team of rescuers including Kauai firefighters, lifeguards, police, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Police do not suspect foul play in Pascua’s disappearance.
Why would he be putting out a net if the waters was as rough as in the photos? Did they double check on the person that called this in? Track his phone?
