Florence Lizares Duarte, 87, of Kapaa, passed away at home on Aug. 11, 2018. She was born in Haiku, Maui, on Jan. 3, 1931, and retired as a store manager with Tony’s Mini Mart.
She was preceded in death by husband Ernest Wallace Duarte, parents Vicente and Theodora Lizares, brothers Pedro Lizares, Benjamin “Ben” Lizares, Phillip Lizares and Charles “Charlie” Lizares, sisters Clara Cubero, Helen Rumbaoa, Lillian Traya, Grace Marie Glory, Irene Ruth Renio, Leonora Lizares, Leonara “Judy” Lovelace, Christine “Chris” Ramsay, Rosaline“Rosie” Amis, Genevieve “Sue” Hamada and Theodora “Ronnie” Lagon.
She is survived by daughters Jacqueline (Alfredo Jr.) Garces and Cheryl (Scott) Brede, grandchildren Kristy Arruda, Angela (Billy) Farias, Curran (Gabrielle) Doctolero and Courtney Brede, great-grandchildren Shelcee Camat, Gordon “Koni” Camat III, Jhaiston Lumacad, Brayden (Dayna) Farias, Breena Farias, Brevin Farias, Micah Doctolero, Waika Doctolero, Anela Doctolero, Ikaika Doctolero, great-great-grandchildren Kanoa Farias, Javen Camat, Lilly Fabro and Brenten Farias, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Aug. 31, at St. Catherine Church, with viewing from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
