Manera Jr.
Mariano L. Manera Jr., 57, passed away on July 4, 2018, at Straub Hospital. He was born on Aug. 14, 1960, in Lihue, and was afield supervisor for Lihue Plantation Company, as well as the owner of Myron’s Restaurant. He then worked for AJAR, Inc., as a water resource supervisor, then worked as a security officer for Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital and, most recently, was a caregiver for a private company.
He was preceded in death by father, Mariano L. Manera Sr.
He is survived by wife, Mercedes Manera; daughter, Shauna Manera of San Francisco; sons, Myron, Christian and Marique Manera of Lihue. He is also survived by mother, Consolacion Manera of Hanamaulu; brothers, Mario (Tracy) Manera of Atlanta, Max (Adele) Manera of Lihue, Michael (Cindra) Manera of Lihue, and Gilmark Manera of Taylor, Michigan; sister, Caroline (Bobby) Texeira of Kapaa; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was a loving son, brother, husband and father, and will be missed dearly.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, July 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary in Koloa, and on Wednesday, July 18, at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia, from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at10 a.m. Burial will be at the Kauai Memorial Gardens. The family suggests casual attire.

Leilani Michelle Alvarado
Leilani Michelle Alvarado, 18, of Kapaa, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Wilcox Medical Center on June 8, 2018. She was born on Oct. 25, 1999, in Modesto, California.
She is survived by parents, Michelle Salvas (Cory) Sarmiento and Ruben Thomas Alvarado Dias Sr. of Modesto, California; brothers, Ruben Thomas Dias Jr. and Zayden Sarmiento; sister, Shyla Sarmiento; grandmother, Bernadette Bandmann Potts; great-grandmother, Josephine Bandmann; godmother, Bobbie Ray Potts of Modesto, California, and close aunties, Danielle Salvas and Stephanie (Derrick) Alves of Tacoma, Washington, Anela Kapaka (Matt) Rhoades of San Jose, California, Cheryl Mendes Mareno of Bonney Lake, Washington, Desiree (Calvin) Kiilau, Chanda Potts; numerous other aunties and cousins.
Friends may visit the family on Saturday, July 28, at St. Catherine Church in Kapaa from 9 to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
The family suggests casual attire.

Arcadia ‘Adiang’ Cacho Caberto
Arcadia “Adiang” Cacho Caberto, 83, of Kaumakani, passed away on June 17, 2018, at her home.
She was born on May 6, 1935, in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, and was a retired seed planter with Olokele Sugar Co.
She was preceded in death by husband, Federico Caberto Sr., and parents, Valentin and Eldefonsa Cacho.
She is survived by sons, Danilo (Nely) Caberto of Kekaha, Eduardo (Bessie) Caberto of Kaumakani, Saturnino Caberto of Narvacan, Philippines, Federico Jr. (Elizabeth) of Kaumakani, Ray Caberto of Kaumakani and Roy Caberto of Kaumakani; daughter, Gloria (Fernando Sr.) Calixterio of Kaumakani; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 27, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai from 5 to 9 p.m., with Rosary at 6:30 p.m., and again on Saturday, July 28, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 8:30 to 10 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
The family suggests casual attire.
