HANAPEPE — Caryn Sakahashi has been raising orchids for more than six years.
Sakahashi was awarded the Reserve Grand Champion honor for her epicattleya “Charlie Brown,” one of two new awards created for 2018, when the GIOS opened the doors to its annual Spring Fantasy orchid show and sale Friday at the Hanapepe United Church of Christ social hall.
The other new award, the Grand Champion, was awarded to Pearl Wollin for her Brassia Rex “Sakata” AM/AOS. The specimen also garnered Best In Show honors.
The Spring Fantasy orchid show and sale is on today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no admission charge.
