Ed Kawamura Sr. (congratulations to the Kauai Veterans Center on hosting National Vietnam Veterans Day!) and his family have a unique tradition of hosting a petting zoo (have you ever seen blue chicks? Or purple ones?) at the walkway fronting the Kauai Marriott Resort &Beach Club near Kukui’s for all the people who happen to be there. And Ed? Well, there is always the buffet at Kukui’s (when is the Charity Walk bento?).
Kudos to Helaine Perel, Stacie Chiba-Miguel and The Shops at Kukuiula in Poipu (who found the Easter egg from last year?) on incorporating Easter into the Kauai Culinary Market (hmm, idea for Ferdinand Dosono — any good Korean egg recipes to go with the kim chee and bulgogi?).
And speaking of Ferdinand, this Saturday is the Garden Fair (don’t forget, Sharron Weber!) at the Kauai Community Market (what kind of garden treats is Jan Woo of Barkaroo Bakery going to have?) at Kauai Community College … and the March for Babies at Lydgate Park … and the Boy Scouts Makahiki (right next to the Garden Fair) — all on the same day!
