County budget reviews begin - The Garden Island

LIHUE — Kauai County departmental budget reviews begin at 9 this morning at the Historic County Building.

The meetings are scheduled until the middle of April, and will be a review of the mayor’s proposed annual budget for fiscal year 2018 and 2019, his capital improvements budget, and a resolution establishing real property tax rates for the fiscal year beginning July 1.

During the meetings, the council will review and make preliminary decisions regarding the budget.

Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. recently proposed an operating budget of $214 million.

If members of the public wish to testify, they must be present at the beginning of meetings, which are also set for March 23, 27 and 29.
