Irene Randall (she said she got a mailing that said “doll” instead of “dall”) is trying to tell her daughters she is as popular as Dickie Chang of “Walaau.” She was spending some time walaau-ing with the Kekaha Neighborhood Center kupuna after getting her taxes done by AARP (Coleen Kasperek said they can still use some volunteer tax preparers).

Coach Basilio “Bunga” Fuertes was cruising with his grandson and said the Waimea High School version of the Hall of Fame is coming up April 7, where five Menehune “greats” will be inducted. He has great stories on all five nominees that people will hear when they check out the event.
Kudos to Mark Perriello, Anna Baudouin and Carol Manera Texeira on a great Kauai Chamber of Commerce first quarter general membership meeting, hosted by Steve Lupkes and Beck’s Hybrids CEO Lawrence “Sonny” Beck at the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort (congratulations to Resort Manager Barry Parris, who was being introduced to County Council Chair Mel Rapozo by Resort General Manager Grant James!).
Barry was getting the lowdown from longtime servers Nelson Batalion (he promised details on the ASUH Kauai Community College Easter festivities!), Toto Santos and Sandy Ka‘auwai, and Beth Haddock had a different role — she was a customer (complete with a pau hana special in hand).
Derek and Monica Kawakami were among the nearly 300 people in attendance, as was Norma Doctor Sparks, who will be holding her fundraiser for Kauai County Council office this afternoon at the Kauai Veterans Center.
