Helen Heng Tay passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the age of 70 on August 16, 2016 in Hanapepe, Hawaii after a valiant battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was a talented seamstress, savvy businesswoman, loyal friend, proud mother and loving wife.
Born in Singapore, one of seven children, she immigrated to Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii to be with her high school sweetheart Tony (Tee) Tay in 1972. They moved to Kauai in 1976 and built a life for their new family and opening of Mariko’s in Hanapepe.
She is survived by her husband Tony and sons, Elroy and Clifton.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30AM – 10:30AM with service to follow from 10:30AM – 11:30AM. Casual attire requested, but no red please.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (www.michaeljfox.org/) in memoriam of Helen Tay.
