The holidays are definitely here, as Edwin Vea (he was helping Karin Panui of Mailelanis at the Kekaha School craft fair last week) hosts his own Beach House Restaurant craft fair Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with more than 60 vendors (thats bigger than the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School Media TV event, where Karin was one of about 40 vendors!). And, yes, Karin will be there, too (unless sister Made came home from the Honolulu craft fair at the Neal Blaisdell Center), and Annette Hashimoto wont have to worry about improvising swimming pools for the moopuna because the beach is right there.

Kudos to Robbie Melton, Dana Hazelton, Leah Brown and the numerous other hands involved in the Maker Quest Kauai program, where more than two dozen young people were given a hands-on (wow! Eight 3D printers going at once — a first!) opportunity to create (Seth Womble had Trysen Kaneshige doing photos) and explore their creative idea germs to see how it can develop into entrepreneurship ventures.
Tammy Shinohara, a book writer from Japan, discovered floral workers Elvrine Chow (yep, she’s back from California, Cynthia Chiang!) and Jennifer Ortal while cruising through the crowd at the Kauai Culinary Market at The Shops at Kukuiula (Quiksilver is now Deja Vu Surf Hawaii with expanded offerings of products) Wednesday, where Aletha Thomas of Monkeypod Jam said the Lawai factory and the Kauai Community Market booth will be participating in Small Business Saturday!
The Kauai Society of Artists is hosting its artists reception today from 5 to 8 p.m. at its Kukui Grove Center gallery, and FishEyeKauai is hosting its gallery opening party Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. with live music at its new Old Koloa Town location (they relocated from the Poipu Shopping Village), where people can meet Scuba Tom Green and other contributing artists.
