HONOLULU – One of Kaua`i’s high school teams will be involved in the ‘Baseball in Paradise 2000’ tournament that will be taking place on O`ahu starting on August 2 and running until August 6.
A press release from the offices of Hawai`i Winter Baseball announces that the event will climax with a Homerun Derby and will feature competitors in an 18-year-old division, and a 15-year-old division with representatives from O`ahu, Maui, Kaua`i, and mainland teams including the Oklahoma Drillers, the Oklahoma Outlaws, the South Texas Sluggers, Arkansas Select, and the Midwest All-Stars. A team from Okinawa is also expected to participate.
Kaua`i’s 18-and-Under team will open at the Ala Wai Field playing a double-header against O`Keiki followed by a contest against the Oklahoma Drillers.
Kaua`i will go on to meet the Gators in an 11 a.m. contest at the Mid Pacific Field on August 4.
Hawai`i Winter Baseball was the original sponsor of the Kaua`i Emeralds.
