HONOLULU – All of Kaua’i is buzzing over today’s battle between the Waimea Menehunes and the powerful St. Louis Crusaders of Honolulu in the state high school football championship semifinal game.
Numerous Menehune fans are flying to Honolulu to attend the game, which will be played at Aloha Stadium.

Many well-wishers from across Kaua’i have been talking all-week about Waimea’s chances in the game. No matter who you talk to, there is a consensus: this is the biggest football game that a Kaua’i team has ever been involved in.
Waimea’s 20-18 state quarterfinal victory over Kailua last week ranks as one of the biggest football wins ever by a Kaua`i team. It ranks right up there with Waimea’s win over Waianae in the 1980s.
The game will broadcast on Kaua’i by KUAI-AM 720 radio with a pre-game show beginning at 4:40 p.m.
The winner plays either Baldwin of Maui or Kahuku of O’ahu in the state championship game scheduled for Aloha Stadium on Saturday, Dec.
