MILILANI — Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation athletes fared well during the 2024 Island Movers Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Track and Field championship that wrapped up on Saturday at the Mililani High School track and field facility.
Island School’s Edward Silliman led the individual honors by finishing with a silver medal in the boys 110 meter hurdles event on a run that stopped the clocks at 15.19 seconds.
Kapa‘a High School boys finished tied for 15th place at the state meet. Island School boys tied for 17th place and Waimea High School boys finished in a tie for 28th place.
Aliyah Taba of Waimea High School led the wahine performances by finishing third during the finals of the girls 100 meter hurdles event with a 15.37 second run. Turning around to the girls 300 meter hurdles, fellow Menehune Kendra Knapp topped Taba with a No. 6 finish at 48.87 run to Taba’s No. 8 finish at 51.56.
Kapa‘a’s Kanoe Haneberg finished with a pair of sixth place medals — on in the girls high jump where she cleared 5 feet, and the other in the long jump where Haneberg leaped 16 feet, 6 1/4 inches.
In team results, Waimea girls topped the KIF contingent by finishing tied for 17th place. The Menehune were followed by the Kaua‘i High School girls, who finished tied for 22nd place. The Kapa‘a girls ended in a tie for 25th place.
