Martin Bergonia of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died at his residence in Kapa’a, on Nov. 11, 2001 at the age of 69.
Born in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, on July 14, 1932, he was a Maintenanceman for the Marriott, Kaua’i Surf and the Westin and a Retired
Staff Sgt. with the Hawai’i Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife: Nenita Dugay Bergonia of Kapa’a; one daughter: Sherilynn Bergonia of Kilauea; one son: Anthony “Andy” Bergonia of Kapa’a; four brothers: Frederico (Florence) Bergonia of Hanama’ulu; Julian (Dolores) Bergonia of California; Victorino (Judy) Bergonia of Indiana; Bienvenido “Ben” Bergonia of Kaua’i; three sisters: Marciana (Alfredo) Ballesteros of Hanama’ulu; Lapaz Fisher of Maryland; Isabella Julian of California.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Nov. 26, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa’a, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. where services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. By Father Coyle. Burial to follow at Kaua’i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Casual attire is suggested.

Donald G. I. Tanahashi of Kalaheo, Kaua’i, died at home on Nov. 15, 2001 at the age of 62. Born in Los Angeles, CA. on Nov. 15, 1939, he was a retired Avionics Manager with Allied Signal-Honeywell. He is survived by wife, Susan; sons, Gregory (Debbie) Au of La Canada, CA. and Andy (Patricia) Au of South Pasadena, CA; daughter, Paula (Matthew) Peterson of Fullerton, CA.; five grandchildren; sister, Diane Johnson of Apopka, Florida; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001 at the Hanapepe Hawaiian Congregational Church – 3815 Hanapepe Rd., 335-3505. Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Service officiated by Rev. Wendy Tajima. Aloha attire is suggested.
