Kurt Yamaguchi
Kurt Yamaguchi of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Nov. 13, 2001 at the age of 36.
Born in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, on July 8, 1965, he was a Chef with Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his parents, Shigeto & Esther Yamaguchi; one brother: Duane (Cindy) Yamaguchi of Aiea, Oahu; two sisters: Wendy (Milton) Yamaguchi of Lihu’e, Kaua’i and Cadice (Fred) Pascual of Koloa, Kaua’i. Also numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Service officiated by Pastor George Maeda will begin at 3 p.m. Followed by burial at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

Kiyoto Uegawa
Kiyoto Uegawa of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Nov. 10, 2001 at the age of 91.
Born in Wailua, Kaua’i, on May 26, 1910, he was a Supervisor with Hawaiian Canneries for 32 years and retired as a Sprinkler Operator with Lihu’e Sugar Plantation after 9 years.
He is survived by his wife: Shizuno of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; two sons: Eugene (Merle) Uegawa of Wailua Homesteads, Kaua’i, and Lincoln (B.J.) Uegawa of Kapa’a, Kaua’i; four daughters: Jane (Henry) Kanada of Kane’ohe, Oahu; Amy (Roy) Kimura of Pearl City, Oahu, Katy Uegawa of Mililani, Oahu and Irene (Rudy) Lekarczyk of Laguna Hills, CA; 9 grand children.
Friends may visit with the family at 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, at the Kapa’a Hongwanji Mission, service officiated by Rev. Takata will begin at 5 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

Leslie Maka
Leslie Annette Maka passed away on Nov. 10, 2001 at her residence in Kilauea at the age of 49. She was born in Riverside County, CA.
She is survived by her two daughters: Kyra (Randy) Maka and Liana (Kolo) Maka, 1 granddaughter: Kahelelani Maka-Adric. Mother: Ruth (Al) Raggozino of Petaluma, CA.; Sisters: Laura (Wayne) Rathe of Redding, CA. & Lynda Martello of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by her ex-husband: Murphy (Ann Marie) Maka; Mother-in-law: Rebecca Kapoli Maka, Brother-in-law: Sherman Maka, Jacob Maka & Fetta Maka. Sisters-in-law: Henrietta Bond and Jolly-Ann (David) Mahuiki-Barradas and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Waioli Hui’ia Church in Hanalei. Visitation from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Scattering of ashes to follow at Hanalei Pier. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be sent to the Kaua’i Hospice or American Cancer Society.
Fructouso Visitacion
Fructouso Visitacion of Kaumakani, Kaua’i, died at Hale Omao on Nov. 4, 2001, at the age of 88.
Born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, P.I. on Jan. 12, 1913, he was a retired Asst. Operator Steam General Plant with Olokele Sugar Co.
He is survived by his wife, Catalina Visitacion of ‘Oma’o; son, Henry (Albertina) Visitacion of Lihu’e; daughters, Precie (Elpidio) Mendoza of Kaumakani, Kaua’i, Terry (Segundo) Rabilas of P.I. and Annie Medeiros of ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Esmenia Tagavilla of Hanapepe, Kaua’i; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service officiated by Brian Tuzon will begin at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Hanapepe Public Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.

Dorothy Glasgow
Dorothy Glasgow of Kekaha, Kaua’i, died at Hale Omao on Oct. 31, 2001, at the age of 92.
Born in Mystic, Iowa on June 9, 1909, she was a retiree.
She is survived by son, Duane Glasgow of Kekaha, Kaua’i; grandson, Duane Glasgow, Jr. of Kekaha, Kaua’i, granddaughter, Vicky Domingo of Kekaha, Kaua’i; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Arlene (Ed) Gotheridge of Bettenford, IA. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jovencio Villanueva
Jovencio Ben Agbayani Villanueva of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, died on Nov. 10, 2001, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 65.
Born in Vintar, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on July 1, 1936. He worked for Kaua’i Surf, Kaua’i Stores and had his own shoe store in 1978 called JB Villanueva Shoes and Sandals, and a Sales Clerk for Sears Auto Department.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Donato & Cresenciana Villanueva and his wife Josephine Bromeo Villanueva. He is survived by two sons: Jonathan Villanueva of Kapa’a, JoeBen Villanueva of Koloa; one daughter: JoMarie (Rolly) Hernando of Lihu’e; one sister-in-law: Flo Sina of Koloa; two brothers: Clemente (Ludy) Villanueva of California, Oscar (Venus) Villanueva of California; one sister: Florencia (Herb) Schultz of Oregon, numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Nov. 19, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Rosary at 7 p.m. Again on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at St. Raphaels Church from 9 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Services at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua’i Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.
