Island School tennis teams keep putting on the pressure, but Kaua‘i High School prevailed in a make-up match played Wednesday at the KCC courts.
In the boys match, Island School was victorious in two matches, but was edged out by Kaua‘i, 3-2 while the Raider girls were 5-0 over the Island School effort.
Justin Vea continues his domination in the boys singles event, this time taking Sterling Inouye 6-2, 6-0 in the Boys No. 1 Singles event. Ashton Perez similarly defeated Ryan Biecker 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 on the No. 2 Singles court.
Kaua‘i was victorious in the boys doubles events with the team of Reyn Balocan and Alan Castillo defeating Island School’s No. 1 Doubles team of Justin Pelton and Andrew Rowan 6-3, 6-2.
On the No. 2 Doubles court, Chris Flynn and Tim Rokohl handled Island School’s team of Erik Talvi and Chris Marsh 6-2, 6-1 while Raiders Manny Cagdan and Pacific Gingras was 6-3, 6-1 better than Island Schools’ Hunter Coberly and Ryan Bender on the No. 3 Doubles court.
Dasha Lagmay, coming off a win over Waimea last week, continued her streak with a 6-0, 6-0 showing over Jasmine Blaine in the No. 1 Girls Singles court and Cassady Sirois, playing on the No. 2 singles field for Kaua‘i, defeated Tayler James 6-0, 6-0.
Lizzy Schiller and Megan Vento filled the No. 1 Doubles court and went on to down Island School’s Juli Blachowiak and Tayler Dabin 6-1, 6-0.
On the No. 2 Doubles court, Katie Anderson and Jessica Castillo got past Island School’s Jessica Duarte and Nikki Arruda 6-1, 6-2 while No. 3 Doubles saw Kaua‘i’s Tasha Hannah and Gabi Sanehira defeat Catherine Hoban and Christy Mayfield 6-4, 6-3.
The Raiders face a big game Saturday when they meet Kapa‘a at the Kiahuna Tennis Courts starting at 12 p.m. while Island School travels to the Hanapepe tennis courts to face Waimea, also starting at 12 p.m.
