WAIMEA — Namolokama’s strong showing at the state paddling championships overflowed into the Na Pali Challenge Sunday.
Namolokama placed two teams in the top ten overall finishers, the second of the two teams topping the Masters division.
The first Namolokama team finished fourth overall at 4:24:34 followed by the Masters division winners at 4:35:35.
Team members for the Masters team included Kati Otsuji, Fran Acoba, Margo Turner, Jane Delaney, Cindy Lou Nash, Rinana Turner, Jeff McBride, Steve Cole, Jimmy Jasper, Mark Riggs, Legs Yokotake and Hipo Princeano.
Runner-ups in the Masters Division saw Keauhou Canoe Club (4:40:58), Pu‘uwai-Laola (4:42:12), Kaiola Canoe Club (4:44:09) and Kai O Pua Canoe Club (4:46:49) round out the leaderboard.
Hawaiian Canoe Club-Dana was the overall first-to-finish at a time of 4:14:34, followed about a minute later by Team Bradley (4:15:46) and the Outrigger-Hui Lanakila team (4:18:33).
The Hawaiian Canoe Club-Dana topped the Non-Koa Open division with its first finish overall. Team members include Dane Ward, Therera Felgate, Lauren Bartlett, Barbara Querry, Emill Jancheri, Kawena Cramer, Kai Bartlett, Mael Carey, Kekoa Cramer, Philipe Gomes, Tyson Kubo and JB Guard.
Patsy Vasquez, Katlay Erwin, Vivian Griffin, Lois Wise, Paula Crabb, Carleen Ornellas, Kamoa Kalama, Paul Hewlett, Bill Nowet, James Kincaid, Harrison and Nyle Warinme made up the Kailua Canoe Club that topped the Senior Masters division on a 4:41:03 trip from the Hanalei starting line to the Kikiaola Small Boat Harbor finish.
Kailua Canoe Club was followed by Kihei Canoe Club (5:08:37), Kawaihae Canoe (5:13:40), Pu‘uwai Canoe Club (5:20:00), and Hawaiian Canoe Club (5:21:13) rounded out that leader board.
Keauhou Canoe Club (4:54:09) topped the Golden Masters division followed by Kaiola Canoe Club (5:20:26), Keoua Honaunau (5:23:19) and Lanikai (5:31:09).
Keauhou members include Bob Bruce, Richard Burnett, Paul Acurre, Bo Ackerman, Mel Pauole, Bruce Clifford, Carol Clifford, Seri Lassiter, Noel Black Ackerman, Nancy Concepcion, Paulette Tripplet and Ann Kendall Buck.
