Kaua‘i High School sophomore and reigning Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation girls golf champion Kelli Oride was one of the state’s top juniors who played in the Third Annual King Auto Group’s Pro-Junior Skills Challenge yesterday at the Wai‘alae Golf Course.
The event which benefited the Hawai‘i State Junior Golf Association started off the week for the Sony Open. Oride, along with Cassy Isagawa of Baldwin High School, Alika Bell of Kamehameha Schools Kapalama and David Fink of ‘Iolani School were paired with pros Dean Wilson, Davis Love III and Parker McLachlin for the event.
The challenge included three skills shots: a trick shot from in front of the 18th green, a bunker shot and a long putt taken by each team of participants.
The HSJGA stands to receive a $10,000 donation and in the past, participating pros have donated an additional $10,000 of their prize money to the organization.
