Vanessa Rose Valenciano of Lawa‘i died Oct. 8, 2009, at her home at age 52. Born on Sept. 28, 1957, on Kaua‘i, she was a waitress.
She is survived by her husband Macklin Valenciano of Kaua‘i; daughters Shayla Agosto of Kaua‘i, Shaylin Valenciano of Kaua‘i and Shilum Agosto of Kaua‘i; brothers Revlon Parker of California, Terrance (Angie) Parker of Kaua‘i, William (Lynda) Mullen of California and Paul (Irene) Mullen of California; sisters Holly Ho and Amber Peters of O‘ahu.
Visitation from 6 to 9 p.m., cremation to follow, on Thursday, Oct. 15, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Memorial Chapel in Koloa.

Thomas Oshima
Thomas “Toto” Tsutomu Oshima of Kaneohe died Oct. 7, 2009, at Kuakini Medical Center at age 76. Born in Lihu‘e, he was a retired medical technologist for Kuakini Medical Center and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife Flora; daughters Lana (Cedric) Kaeo of Kaneohe and Sandra (Jon) Miyata of Hilo; four grandchildren; brothers Stanley Oshima of ‘Ele‘ele, William (Jan) Oshima of San Diego, Paul (Evelyn) Oshima of Kaneohe and Arthur (Nadine) Oshima of Lihu‘e.
Visitation at 3 p.m., service at 4 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Nu‘uanu Congregational Church in Honolulu. Inurnment at 9:30 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 19, at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.

Miyoshi Kyono
Miyoshi Kyono of Kalaheo died Sept. 30, 2009, at her home at age 88. Born on Sept. 7, 1921, in Lawa‘i, she was a retired baker assistant at Kaua‘i Kookie Company.
She was preceded in death by her husband Shinji Kyono; parents Onokichi and Yoshi (Katagiri) Sugahara; siblings Florence Yamane, Beatrice Kimoto, Thelma Toyofuku, Miyogo Sugahara, Nobuko Imada and Ben Sugahara.
She is survived by her daughter Suzanne Kyono of Kalaheo, son Alvin Kyono of Kalaheo and sister Doris Snyder of Honolulu.
